Video-assisted versus macintosh direct laryngoscopy for intubation of obese patients: a meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials

چکیده
INTRODUCTION: We performed a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) to compare the usefulness video-assisted (VL) approaches with Macintosh direct laryngoscope for endotracheal intubation obese patients. MATERIAL AND METHODS: Studies were obtained via search SCOPUS, Medline, Web Science, CINAHL, Cochrane Central databases. The polled relative risks (RRs) odds ratios (ODs) or standard mean differences (SMD) 95% confidence intervals (CIs) calculated random–effects model. Subgroup analyses evaluate influence VL types on association. RESULTS: First attempt success rate in DL group varied amounted 94.7% vs 89.5% respectively (OR = 2.04; CI: 1.21–3.42; p 0.007) overall was 99.0% 97.5% 2.20; 0.45–10.67; 0.33). Intubation time which 48.0 ± 37.7 48.4 37.5 seconds (SMD 0.14; –0.33–0.61; 0.56). Cormack-Lehane 1 2 grade during using observed 95.9% cases statistically significantly higher than case laryngoscopy (79.6%; OR 6.68; 3.32–13.42; < 0.001). CONCLUSIONS: Our suggests that may be superior conventional an patient population due first–attempt rate, better glottis visibility, lower intubation-related injuries.

Comparison of video laryngoscopy versus direct laryngoscopy during urgent endotracheal intubation: a randomized controlled trial.
OBJECTIVES In the critically ill undergoing urgent endotracheal intubation by direct laryngoscopy, multiple attempts are often required with a higher complication rate due to the urgency, uncontrolled setting, comorbidities, and variability in expertise of operators. We hypothesized that Glidescope video laryngoscopy would be superior to direct laryngoscopy during urgent endotracheal intubation...
متن کاملGlidescope® video-laryngoscopy versus direct laryngoscopy for endotracheal intubation: a systematic review and meta-analysis
INTRODUCTION The Glidescope(®) video-laryngoscopy appears to provide better glottic visualization than direct laryngoscopy. However, it remains unclear if it translates into increased success with intubation. METHODS We systematically searched electronic databases, conference abstracts, and article references. We included trials in humans comparing Glidescope(®) video-laryngoscopy to direct l...
متن کاملComparison of video laryngoscopes with direct laryngoscopy for tracheal intubation: a meta-analysis of randomised trials.
BACKGROUND Video laryngoscopes have been introduced in recent years as an alternative choice to facilitate tracheal intubation. We conducted a meta-analysis to assess their value when compared with direct laryngoscopy. METHODS PubMed and EMBASE were searched up until 24 September 2010. Randomised trials that reported data on the comparison of video laryngoscopes with direct laryngoscopy for t...
متن کاملAlternative intubation techniques vs Macintosh laryngoscopy in patients with cervical spine immobilization: systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials
BACKGROUND Immobilization of the cervical spine worsens tracheal intubation conditions. Various intubation devices have been tested in this setting. Their relative usefulness remains unclear. METHODS We searched MEDLINE, EMBASE, and the Cochrane Library for randomized controlled trials comparing any intubation device with the Macintosh laryngoscope in human subjects with cervical spine immobi...
متن کاملGlidescope® video laryngoscope vs. Macintosh direct laryngoscope for the intubation of laryngeal neoplasm patients: a randomized controlled study
Background: Glidescope® video laryngoscope (GVL) is widely used in tracheal intubation. However, no studies have been conducted to compare the GVL and Macintosh direct laryngoscope (MDL) for intubation in patients with laryngeal neoplasm. Here, we aim to compare GVL and MDL for the intubation of laryngeal neoplasm patients. Methods: One hundred ninety-six American Society of Anesthesiology (ASA...
